HARD ECONOMIC TIMES: CONSUMERS ARE LOOKING FOR RELIEF

Dear Voter,

These days on every street-corner the high electricity bills are the topic of discussion. During these economic hard times, when many persons are either unemployed or have had their working hours cut back, lowering the very high electricity bills is on the mind of every St. Maarten resident. But where and who do they turn to for help?

The Democratic Party Executive Council, when the fuel prices reached a record high, saw to it that the fuel clause was lowered. This was done to bring relief to our people. Right now, no-one is stepping up to the plate and the National Alliance government is deaf and dumb to the cries of the people. Do they not care?

Voters, how long are we going to suffer at the hands of the National Alliance-Theo Heyliger government? These persons will be the ones approaching you during the upcoming election-campaign to support them. When they do, please let them know that when you needed them they were not there for you and that you will be suporting those persons who supported you. The Democratic Party under the leadership of Sarah Wescot-Williams showed its concern and delivered by lowering your electricity bills, not once but twice in one year. Vote for persons, who have proven to have the interest of the people at heart.

GREAT TURN OUT AT THE OCTOBER 2ND MEETING

There was a very boisterous and enthusiastic crowd waiting for Sarah Wescot-Williams, and other members of the Democratic Party last night.
Supporters need to spread the word, if they really believe in an individual and their cause.
Meaning, that DP members need to get the word out, that they stand behind the Democratic Party, and if they truly believe the message, they need to get up, and get out the vote! Spread the message, and recruit strong individuals who they believe can be an asset to the party.
Highlights from last nights meeting will be uploaded shortly to the Youtube channel: democraticmindsSXM, and the official Facebook site: DEMOCRATIC PARTY ST MAARTEN.
Hope to see everyone at the next event, and subscribe to our daily blog, and RSS feeds to learn the latest.

Erno Labega October 2nd 2009: Status Appartus

PHILIPSBURG--
"The setting of October 10th, 2010 as the date in which St. Maarten will become a country within the Dutch Kingdom is a victory for the island's people, who gave their leaders a mandate in the June 23rd 2000 referendum to pursue country status," said Democratic Party (DP) deputy leader parliamentarian Erno Labega, on Thursday. The date was signed off on by kingdompartners Wednesday night at the end of the Kingdom Political Steering Group Meeting in the World Trade Center in Curacao. The date is irrevocable, but there are still some conditions the island has to fulfill even after October 2010."This achievement is largely the fruit of the labour and perserverance of DP leader Island Councilwoman Sarah Wescot-Williams, who until June 8th, was constitutional affairs commissioner of the referendum," Labega said. "Her dedication and unrelentng pursuit of country status along with the drive of the island's advisors and participation of the the the opposition National Alliance (NA) made this milestone possible.

The DP is not just one person, and it never has been!

I am very much tired of everyone acting like the world has come to an end, because one person lacked the initiative and loyalty to follow through on his promises. I am 44 years old! I can remember a DP party with NONE of the current members, and it was unstoppable then.
Faces will come and go, and we will get used to that, but the bottomline is one person does not make the Party.
Mr. H. is sadly mistaken if he felt that his defection will affect the intelligent decision making of the very astute St Maarten voter.
He made a move, and it was the wrong move. Things got a little bit hot in the kitchen, and the next thing I saw, was him sipping tea with WM. (not literally)
He should have ridden out the storm, and stood by his people. And when I say people, I don't mean the DP members, I mean the loyal St Maartener's who've voted DP for decades and for his grandfather through thick and thin.
So now his only choice is to be the ally to a snake, and assuming that T.H is the mongoose, it should be very entertaining to see them as they warily try to interact with one another.
It must be also very comforting for the snake to know that everyone seems to believe that his brand new "acquisition", is simply using him as a launching pad, to start their own party.
I will end this by saying, the DP does have many challenges, but the Alliance is beginning to look less and less like an Alliance, and more like a group of unfortunates, bound together by disloyalty and betrayal.

THE DP IS STILL STANDING.

Look forward to learning more about the St Maarten Democratic Party, via their blogs, Facebook, Twitter and Live Space Networks.
With the defection of certain members of the DP, some have argued that The Democratic Party has been weakened.
Not quite.
The weakest branches have been pruned, it seems, and the party has already regenerated and rebuilt itself. No true politician enjoys the work without those unexpected challenges. Sarah came back strong for the September 23rd rally, and she brought the crowd to their feet. Michael Ferrier, Roy Marlin and Julian Rollocks, also spoke passionately about The Democratic Party's iron resolve, and steel determination. The true supporters, "red-blood", Democrats showed up, boisterous and optimistic, to give their support to the party. Many in the crowd smiled and cheered for the cameras, they wanted their faces to be seen, and they wanted it to be known:
THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, IS STILL STANDING STRONG.
